MIDDLEMASS garden design

I'm enjoying being excited about the garden and wandering around discovering new flowers each day.

Design Process

We offer a very flexible service, from full garden design to a specific planting plan for a problem border. Below is a breakdown of our complete service; you can choose to take part or all, to suit your needs.

Initial Visit - We will come to meet you, view your garden, and discuss wants and needs and personal tastes. We'll establish your brief, introduce you to our way of working and help you determine how to use our service to suit you best. Subsequently we will write to you with a summary of your brief, the service we will provide and confirmation of our fee.

Survey - We will take an accurate survey of your existing garden. This includes detailed measurements, photographs, soil samples and a careful note of any plants and features that could be incorporated in the future design.

Outline Plan - We will draft an outline plan of your new garden and visit you again to discuss the design and planting ideas, bring a mood board to give you a visual feel for the end result. You'll have the opportunity to make suggestions or amendments before the plan is finalised.

Final Plan - We'll then create a scale drawing, including isometric diagrams where helpful to assist you in visualising vertical perspectives. You'll see where the hard landscaping is and also the planting areas. This is the final plan, or blue print, for your new garden.

Planting Plan - Your planting plan will show you the location and spacing of all the plants, both new and existing in your new garden. We will also give you a full plant list itemising each plant, size and quantity required.

Garden Build - You may be happy to implement the hard landscaping yourself or know a reliable contractor who can do it for you. Alternatively we can organise it. We can produce a construction specification, help you choose a contractor and project manage the build.

Planting and Maintenance - On completion of the hard landscaping, we'll source all your plants, mostly from local wholesale nurseries (which generally gives you a greater variety and a better price) and position and plant them according to your planting plan. We will also prepare easy to follow maintenance guidelines to ease you gently into caring for your new garden.

Follow Up Visit - If you wish we'll come and see you again, check you are still happy and answer any questions you may have.
